How Much Resveratrol In Red Wine

So is red wine good for you or bad for you?

I do not know about you, but I love my red wine. I was fooled by all the hype on the antioxidants in red wine really be good for you. Until then I only drank it because I liked the taste and aroma of it.

After owned and run our own hotel with bar and restaurant in collaboration with my husband, our evenings were spent serving customers with their meals, and then socialize in the bar. And I challenge anyone to be in that position and be teetotal, but tried to keep our intake in moderation.

In the recession of the 1990s, in 1992 to be precise, we have lost our business due to the astronomically high interest rates. It seems a joke now, with interest rates 5 percent, but we were paying 20.5 percent (5 percent more copies) and the mortgage is made untenable.

Since then we have always found enough money to pay for our habits, and that's all it is. It is an addiction when you can decide to go to a six-week detoxification, or happy to attend a function where there is alcohol. But it was a serious habit. They always told us we could not become alcoholics because they wanted a drink in the morning. Normally we would our first drink about 6pm (when the sun has been more than a yard!), except on the rare occasions when we went to lunch, and one of us, either shall not, or just take a small glass.

Therefore, it is good for you? I've been avidly following all the research and have absorbed all the articles and news until I'm not sure what to believe more.

There was an article in the Daily Mail last year that compared different wines, and declares that certain wines are better for you than others. For example, a small glass of Madiran wine from France has more health benefits than two bottles of most Australian wines.

The same article refers to the resveratrol in red wine is good for us because it is a powerful antioxidant that comes from grape skins. Unfortunately you would have to drink large amounts of red wine to reap the benefits against cancer.

Even better are the polyphenols, which are chemical compounds grape skin and seeds. These are natural antioxidants that protect the membranes of each cell. Another important component of red wine is the presence of procyanidins, which help reduce blood pressure, lower cholesterol and protect against the hardening of the arteries.

Those wines that are richer in procyanidins tend to be those in which the skins and seeds, and grapes have been in contact with the wine during fermentation and afterwards. You will not find this information on the bottle, you should find on websites of the producers, and find the contact time of at least ten days.

Cabernet Sauvignon is usually better than Merlot or Shiraz Cabernet from Chile and Argentina with the best option.

Another interesting piece of research found in which to enjoy a glass of red wine Sunday roast with overrides some of the harmful substances produced by the meat in the stomach. These chemicals – released during the digestion of fats – are for many diseases, including cancer, hardening of the arteries, diabetes and Parkinson's disease. It is believed that the polyphenols in red wine neutralize some the dangers of the flesh. Seems like a good reason to cook your steak in red wine one of Jamie Oliver!

This little snippet ended by saying that several studies have shown that only half a glass of red wine a day may reduce the risk of death from heart disease. They do not tell you how to stop at half a glass!

A recent newspaper report revealed that research had shown that women who drink a large glass of wine a day increases your risk of breast cancer in a room, and a woman who drinks three units of alcohol a day and smokes, suffers a similar increase in their risk of oral and throat cancer.

researchers Denmark found that drinking more than two glasses of wine a day almost doubles a woman's risk of developing allergies. Those with more than 14 drinks a week are 78% more likely to develop sore eyes, runny nose and headaches associated with reactions to dust mites or animal hair.

Now the good news: researchers say that a daily glass of wine could prevent cancer of the throat. One study found that those who enjoy a regular drink more than half its risk of developing Barrett's esophagus, an incurable condition that can lead to esophageal cancer.

Well, all I can say is – Salud! But not every day, not too much. My husband and I suddenly decided shortly after Christmas we went to a detox again. None of us could believe how easy it was, in fact it is much easier to leave than to reduce. Once the bottle is open, we always want to finish it. So now to take two or three times a week, and the other days we drink purple grape juice, so you continue receiving our health benefits!
