If you have not heard speak of resveratrol, however, probably will. A natural component of various plants and especially in the skin and seeds of grapes, resveratrol is thought to contribute to human health in many ways and is quickly gaining the attention of the public. It is important to remember that almost all studies to date have been conducted resveratrol in animals or in vitro (test tube) with human cells. However, many vendors are claiming extraordinary benefits taking resveratrol. I recently visited one of the resveratrol review many websites that offer a "free trial" and found the following claims at the top of the page.
* Slows the aging process
* Increase healthy life expectancy
* Supports cardiovascular health
* Lose unwanted weight
* Supports immune system strong
Of course, no in vivo study in people has confirmed any of these statements. Studies in yeast cells and the fly fruit have shown an increase in longevity. A study using rats have shown that resveratrol can prevent the accumulation of weight by eating too much and many other studies have derived various benefits to cardiovascular health, blood sugar and sports performance to name a few. Again, only a very few studies have been completed in people. Some are ongoing now.
However, many are choosing to supplement with resveratrol. After doing a lot of research on my own, including reading through abstracts of studies on many pubmed.gov, I think the benefits outweigh the risks. I collected a few tips for selection of extras that I found helpful. Are listed below.
– Avoid sites that make outrageous claims like "reverses the aging "," Cures cancer "or" lose weight fast. "While resveratrol is very promising, these statements are not true. Do your homework own to find out the truth about resveratrol.
– Avoid sites that offer "free trials" of their products without disclosing prices. After that the trial is over, the purchase of these providers is often much more than buying from a reliable source resveratrol. I think many of these "free trial" and resveratrorl review sites are making statements like the above.
– Avoid brands that do not reveal the ingredients. All non-resveratrol equal. "Trans-resveratrol is the only biologically active form. Unless the label states the amount of trans-resveratrol, do not buy! Many sites that offer free trials do not reveal the ingredients of their products.
– Avoid megadoses. The FDA has not yet issued any guidance on resveratrol, so I dont know how much is enough. Some studies have shown that as little as 20 mg of trans-resveratrol "may be sufficient to obtain benefits. A dose generally accepted seems to be effective at 200 mg range. Over 500 mg is generally considered a mega-dose. The side effects of megadoses include pain in the joints and nerves. Overall, however, resveratrol seems relatively safe.
– Resveratrol with other compounds may be more effective than resveratrol alone. Wine, which is loaded with a range of plant chemicals called polyphenols benefit is a good example of how less resveratrol can be very effective. A spectrum of polyphenols and vitamins such as vitamin D, vitamin C, Quercitin, IP6, ferulic acid can maximize the effects of resveratrol. – Talk with your doctor before taking resveratrol. Again, while the resveratrol seems certain, have not been reports of side effects.
